Wilson Center Names Bruce Blakeman As New Chief Operating Officer

The Wilson Center is pleased to announce that Bruce Blakeman will be its new Chief Operating Officer. Previously, Blakeman served as Vice President for Corporate Affairs at Cargill in Singapore for more than a decade, during which time he built two corporate social responsibility programs awarded the US Secretary of State's highest recognition.

WASHINGTON— The Wilson Center is pleased to announce that Bruce Blakeman will be its new Chief Operating Officer.

Previously, Blakeman served as Vice President for Corporate Affairs at Cargill in Singapore for more than a decade, during which time he built two corporate social responsibility programs awarded the US Secretary of State's highest recognition.

He brings extensive experience as a manager and in trade and political issues as a former Commerce Department envoy to China and as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for the US and Foreign Commercial Service, responsible for assisting US businesses through the export process. He served as Chairman of the US-ASEAN Business Council for food and agriculture from 2006-2019.

Blakeman also has extensive experience managing political and public affairs campaigns as a former Senior Vice President at Wirthlin Worldwide.

“Bruce knows both Washington and the world, which is a skill set that will serve us well," said Wilson Center Chairman Governor Scott Walker.

In addition to his management experience, Blakeman is an expert on food security, trade, economic development, sustainability, and supply chains. He is a guest contributor on Bloomberg, CNBC, and other media outlets, and is a graduate of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
