Istoriomor, or Drilling into the Brain of Memory

‘Istoriomor’ is the word coined by Russian historian Dr. Pavel Polian to describe the process of misrepresenting historical events for political ends. As new generations deny and forget the crimes perpetrated by their ancestors, it is imperative that historians continue their objective work in the face of populist myth-making. Dr. Polian used German and Soviet/Russian examples from the 20th century to examine past and current attempts to use history for political purposes.
