As a major destination country for both permanent and temporary migrants, Russia has a significant influence on migration flows in the region. Professor Ivakhnyuk’s presentation examined Russian migration policy using official statistics, sociological surveys, and political dialogue between stakeholders. Her findings demonstrate how a liberal and consistent state policy towards labor migrants could meet the economic, demographic, and geopolitical interests of the Russian Federation.
