POSITION:  Spring Special Events Intern

SALARY:  Unpaid, but students may arrange to receive academic credit for their internship through their university
DATES:  June - August 2020 (Start and end dates flexible)
HOURS: 20-35 hours a week
LOCATION: Washington, D.C.

The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is looking for qualified students (advanced undergraduate or graduate) interested in being staff assistant interns for the Special Events/Protocol coordinator during the Spring 2020 semester. Consistently ranked as one of the top think tanks in the world, the Wilson Center provides opportunities for hands-on experience working on a wide range of issues that impact today’s public policy debates.

DUTIES:

The schedule is 20-35 hours per week, focusing specifically on preparing for our upcoming high-level events with world leaders and VIP dignitaries. Interns will learn the specifics of background planning and implementation of events and will be asked to do occasional research as needed. This is a valuable experience for anyone interested in public policy, international relations, and event management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The applicant must have strong organizational skills, an interest in international affairs, and the ability to work independently and efficiently. The applicant must be professional and have excellent skills in interacting with the public and with VIP dignitaries. Events are often fast-paced and may require multitasking. Both graduate and undergraduate students are welcome to apply.

The applicant should be able to use standard word-processing software such as MS Word and be familiar with online research methods.
