Project Summary

A look at Soviet publications about Uzbekistans, primarily from newspapers and journals, in order to discern the role of the Uzbek literary community in the modernization of Soviet Uzbekistan. Primarily focuses on the life and works of Hamid Alimjan, who was chairman of the Union of Socialist Writers of Uzbekistan from 1939 to 1944.
