David M. Klaus

Full Biography

David M. Klaus served as consulting director of the Wilson Center on the Hill Program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars from 2008-2011. He is a veteran of Capitol Hill and the executive branch, having worked as counsel to the House Energy and Commerce Committee from 1981 to 1988, and served in the Executive Office of the President during the Carter Administration and at the U.S. Department of Energy during the Clinton Administration. He also has ten years of experience in private law practice representing clients on legislative, regulatory and legal issues. Since 2001, he has led or worked as a consultant to multinational and non-profit organizations, including serving as president and CEO of the Congressional Economic Leadership Institute immediately prior to establishing Wilson Center on the Hill. Mr. Klaus obtained his law degree from Georgetown University Law School and holds a BA in U.S. History from Stanford University. He is a member of the DC Bar and American Bar Association.
