Eyda Varela de Chincilla

Eyda Varela de Chincilla is the Vice Minister of Finance for the Republic of Panama. She has over 20 years of private sector experience in the hydrocarbons industry, where she developed a comprehensive career within the company Esso Standard Oil, S.A. Ltd., Panama, an affiliat of ExxonMobil Corporation. Most recently, she served as General Manager, where she was responsible for legal representation and strategic management of finance, operations, human resources, public relations, and business administration of the expansion phase, management, and the introduction of the concept of Convenience Stores “On the Run”, as well as other new products. Varela also served as president of Sales and Supply of ExxonMobil and Esso Standard Oil Companies, S.A. and successfully led the transition from the sale of ExxonMobil affiliated in Panama. She has also held various positions in the area of marketing and sales, such as Sales Manager of Industrial, Marine, Lubricant, and Aviation Materials and General Manager of Retail Sales, Manager of Advertising, and Marketing and Chief Information Technology for Panama and Nicaragua. She holds a Degree in Business Administration with specialization in the Computer Science at the Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and she has an MBA from INCAE Business School in Costa Rica, where she is currently a member of the National Committee.
