Full Biography

Guzel Yakhina (b.1977 in Kazan, Tatarstan) is a Russian novelist and scriptwriter of Tatar origin. She graduated from the Kazan State Pedagogical University, and received her PhD at the Moscow Filmmaking School.

In 2015, Yakhina’s debut novel Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes became a major literary event of the year in Russia, and later was translated into more than 30 languages.

Yakhina has received the following awards for her work:
