    Full Biography

    Dr. John Koumoulides, was a professor of history and administrator of the Greeek Studies and lecture program, which he founded, at Ball State Univeristy in Muncie, Indiana from 1968-2002. Since Januar 2003 he serves as an emritus professor at Ball State and Senior Scholar at the Wooodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. He also serveson the Advisory Editorial Boards of The Cyprus Review and The Patristic and Byzantine Review. He previously served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Modern Hellenism from 1986-1988.

    From 1985-1992, Dr. Koumoulides served on the Advisory Board of the Cultural Outreach Program for the Alexander S. Onassis Center for Hellenic Studies. He has served on the Advisory Committee of the International Hellenic Studies Program of the University of the Aegean, Greece (1988-1989). He also served on the International Committee for the Oxford University Classics Center (1989-1993), and the Editorial Advisory Board of the Collegiate Press (1990-1992).

    In 1988, Dr. Koumoulides was elected by the Governing Body of Fitzwilliam College as a Distinguished Visiting Professorial Fellow 1998-1990. He was a Fulbright-Hays Senior Research Scholarin Greece1977-1978 and again in 1987-1988. At Oxford University he was a Visiting Scholar of Campion Hall from 1980-1981 and was elected Visiting Fellow of Wolfson College for 1983-1984.

    Dr. Koumoulides has received numerous academic honors throughout his distinguished career including: the Archon Chartophylax of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople awarded by Ecumenical Patriach Dimitrios I (1979); Commander de le Ordre du Phenix of the Republic of Greece(1997); MontclairState University outstanding Alumni Award (1980); Ball State University Outstanding Research Award (1983); and the Academy of the Athens Award (1985). He also holds memberships in numerous professional societies.
