Project Summary

Details the crisis produced by the excommunication of the Yugoslav Communist Part from the Cominform, utilizing diplomatic documents previously restricted from general view. Analyzes the complicated political processes conduced by both the Foreign Office and the State Department during the crisis, revealing political attitudes of the US and UK government towards the USSR and Yugoslavia, which are often similar, but not identical. Describes the attempt to undermine the monolithic threat of Soviet-Yugoslav amicability.
