Full Biography

Luiz Ros is the Special Advisor for Innovation to the President and Head of the Digital Economy Initiative at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). As the Bank’s Chief Innovation Officer, he leads the institutional effort to promote innovation across sectors and client countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. From 2007 to 2015, Mr. Ros served as Manager of Opportunities for the Majority, an IDB private sector credit facility launched in 2007 to support innovative private sector solutions. This effort served Base of the Pyramid (BoP) markts in LAC through loans, guarantees and grants. Under his leadership, the team approved 60 operations in 18 countries for over US$ 400 million.  Before joining the Bank, he was Global Manager for Markets and Sustainable Enterprise at the World Resources Institute (WRI). He directed the Sustainable Enterprise Program and participated as a member of the Executive Management Team. Mr. Ros holds a B.S. in Economics, post-graduate degree in Latin American Economics, and M.Sc. in International Relations and Environmental Economics from the University of Brasilia.
