Mat Hames (Thirst for Power, USA 2019) is a writer, producer, and director, known for his two PBS Independent Lens documentaries, What Was Ours (2017) and When I Rise (2010), and for his on-demand documentary series for RoosterTeeth, RTDocs. His films have sreened at SXSW, HotDocs, AFI, Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, the Santa Barbara Film Festival, LA Shorts Fest, and SundanceTV. When I Rise was nominated for an IDA Award in the category of Best Music Documentary. What Was Ours was the Best in Class winner of the Smithsonian Native Cinema Showcase/ / SWAIA in Santa Fe and won best documentary in the American Indian Film Festival, San Francisco. He is co-founder of Austin, Texas based non-fiction production company, Alpheus Media.
