St Petersburg and the Jews of Russian Poland, 1862-1905

Project Summary

Tsarist policy towards the Jews of the Congress Kingdom during 1862-1905. Deals with residency restrictions, occupational, property and educational rights. Looks at how the situation and Poland differed from that in greater Russia -- representing the only instance in Imperial Russian history when Jews and non-Jews were virtually equal.
