Full Biography

Michel Pinard is currently pursuing a B.A. in International Studies and Latin American Studies at the University of Miami. Before joining the Wilson Center, he completed an honors thesis on Cuba’s influence beyond its borders where he analyzed the direct and indirect roles that the post-1959 Cuba played in not only Latin America and the Caribbean, but also in Africa and the Middle East. Michel also served as a teaching and research assistant for Dr. Richard Weisskoff, the chairperson of the Department of International Studies at the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Miami, His areas of interest include institutionalization and democratic consolidation, conflict and resolution, forced migration, regional integration as well as multiculturalism and languages. Michel is originally from Caracas, Venezuela.
