Full Biography

Miguel Székely is director of the Center for Education and Social Studies in Mexico. He was director of the Institute for Innovation in Education at the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico from 2010 to 2013. Prior to that, Székely served as undersecretary for Middle Education of the Government of Mexico from 2006 to 2010 and as undersecretary for Planning and Evaluation at the Ministry of Social Development from 2002 to 2006. He also served as chief of the Office of Regional Development at the Office of the President of Mexico, as research economist at the Inter-American Development Bank, and as researcher in the Economics Department at El Colegio de México. Székely has lectured on development economics for Latin America at El Colegio de México, ITAM, and the University of Oxford. He is a specialist in education, social policy, and public policy evaluation. Székely has authored academic publications, including books, refereed articles in academic journals, and chapters in edited volumes. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from ITAM, Mexico, a Master’s in Economics for Development, and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Oxford, as well as a Master’s in Public Policy.
