Nicholas Berliner is a Senior Foreign Service Officer who most recently served as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Russia and Central Asia at the National Security Council. He has held other senior policy positions in Washington, including Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Russia, Director of the State Department's Office of Russian Affairs, and Director for Central Asia at the National Security Council. Nicholas served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. embassies in Belgium and Georgia, and as well as diplomatic postings in Russia, Uzbekistan, Croatia, Afghanistan, and at NATO. He is fluent in Russian, Croatian, Spanish and French.
