    Full Biography

    Richard Albright has a longstanding commitment to humanitarian affairs and development. He joined the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM) as Deputy Assistant Secretary in July 2018 with responsibility for humanitarian assistance programs in Africa and the Near East and Asia regions. He also oversees the Office of Multilateral Coordination and External Relations. Prior to this assignment Mr. Albright served as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the State Department’s Near Eastern Affairs Bureau, coordinating U.S. foreign assistance to the Middle East and North Africa, which totals over seven billion dollars annually, and ensuring that programs effectively advance U.S. policy priorities.

    Richard Albright has managed a wide range of economic policy, development, humanitarian and security issues across assignments in the Middle East, South Asia, Europe and Washington. As Foreign Policy Advisor to the Chief of Naval Operations, Albright ensured close coordination between the State Department and the U.S. Navy on key political and security issues. Albright served as Coordinator for Civilian Assistance at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad from 2011-2013, where he provided policy direction for nearly $1 billion in annual development and law enforcement assistance programs implemented by USAID, State and other agencies.
