Expert Bio

Selim Mawad has over 20 years of experience in human rights advocacy and peacebuilding. From 2002 - 2011, he served as the Founder & CEO of the Sustainable Democracy Center in Beirut, Lebanon, an organization to raise awareness about democracy and human rights, as well as educate and empower the public. From 2011 - 2014, he was the head of mission of Impunity Watch Great Lakes Region Africa in Burundi. Today, he's an independent consultant on political and human rights issues.
