Steve Utterwulghe

    Full Biography

    Steve Utterwulghe is the Vice President of Development at Search for Common Ground. He was SFCG Angola Country Director during and after the civil war. He then became the Executive Director of the European Headquarters in Brussels where he also served as President of the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office, the largest alliance of peacebuilding organizations in Europe. Prior to that, he worked at the United Nations in Geneva; in Sudan for the Office of the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General; and at the European Commission in Brussels where he managed post-genocide rehabilitation funds for Rwanda. He is an Advisor to the Australian Government's Agency for International Development. Steve has published articles and opinions on international affairs, conflict management, forced displacement and human rights in European, American and African academic journals and newspapers. His work is referred to in several books as well as in working documents. He earned Master's degrees from the London School of Economics (UK) and Tilburg University (The Netherlands)/Louvain University (Belgium). Steve holds a Post-graduate Certificate from Cambridge University in Sustainable Business and attended an executive management program at Harvard Business School. He speaks French, English and Portuguese.
