In this edition of Wilson Center NOW we speak with Southern Voices Network for Peacebuilding Scholar Emmanuel Matambo. Matambo discusses his project which focuses on China's relations and investment in Zambia and how this has shaped politics and recent elections in that nation. The project also compares China’s influence in Zambia with other African nations as China has increased its economic investment and political influence on the continent.

Guests

Emmanuel Matambo is an aspiring Zambian academic of African politics and international relations. He holds a doctorate degree in political science. One of his compelling passions is to contribute to efforts that are intended to bolster Africa’s social, economic and political fortunes as the continent situates itself in an increasingly globalized world. His main area of interest is African agency, especially the continent’s relationship with outside states and institutions, mainly China. He also focuses on Africa’s long overdue role as principal architect of peace and security on the continent.
