Wilson Center Public Policy Fellow James Hollifield has been closely following Europe’s migration crisis and just returned from a trip to Morocco. He provides an update on the evolving situation in this edition of  Wilson Center NOW.


James Hollifield is a Professor of Political Science, the Ora Nixon Arnold Chair in International Political Economy, and Director of the Tower Center at Southern Methodist University. He received his PhD in political science from Duke University in 1985. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Public Policy Fellow at the Wilson Center, he has worked as a consultant for a variety of governmental and intergovernmental organizations, and he has published widely on international political and economic issues, including Immigrants, Markets and States (Harvard UP), Migration Theory (Routledge), and Controlling Immigration (Stanford UP). His current projects include The Emerging Migration State—a study of how states manage international migration for strategic gains—and International Political Economy: History, Theory and Policy (Cambridge UP).


John Milewski is the executive producer and managing editor of Wilson Center NOW and also serves as director of Wilson Center ON DEMAND digital programming. Previously he served as host and producer of Dialogue at the Wilson Center and Close Up on C-SPAN. He also teaches a course on politics and media for Penn State’s Washington Program.
