WASHINGTON – Ambassador Mark Green, President, Director and CEO of The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars released the following statement regarding the announcement that Michelle Bekkering has been named the next National Engagement Director at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC).

"I am delighted that USGLC has named my friend Michelle Bekkering as their new National Engagement Director. I have had the honor of working hand and hand with Michelle for many years at the International Republican Institute and at USAID to promote American leadership and democratic values abroad. USGLC's mission to help strengthen America's civilian-led tools, development and diplomacy, will benefit greatly from her vast wealth of expertise, knowledge, and skill."

While Ambassador Green was the Administrator of USAID, Ms. Bekkering served as the Assistant Administrator for Development, Democracy, and Innovation and the pair also worked together at the International Republican Institute.

Ambassador Green sits on the Board of Directors of the education arm of the USGLC, The Center for U.S. Global Leadership.
