The Wilson Center Comments on World Water Day

Lauren Herzer Risi

Statement from Lauren Herzer Risi, Project Director, Environmental Change and Security Program

"In the midst of a global pandemic that has claimed the lives of over 2.7 million people around the world, 2.2 billion people are living without access to safe water. Without adequate and safe water, there is no improved health, economic growth, or peace and stability. How we manage this invaluable natural resource will determine the sustainability of our future.

Since its inception, the Wilson Center has recognized water’s unique role in not just the health of populations, but how communities, countries, and regions can cooperate to sustainably manage our shared waters."
