The Wilson Center unequivocally condemns the terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas, a designated foreign terrorist organization, and stands in complete solidarity with the State of Israel. 

President Biden recently joined the leaders of France, Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom in stating that “[w]e make clear that the terrorist actions of Hamas have no justification, no legitimacy, and must be universally condemned. There is never any justification for terrorism.” We wholeheartedly agree.

It is unconscionable that Hamas terrorists have purposely targeted innocent civilians —including the elderly, women and children— for kidnapping and murder. It is inhuman that they have threatened to kill those hostages.

We extend our deepest condolences to all the innocent people who have been affected by these heinous attacks.

As President Biden has said, “there is no justification whatsoever for terrorism, and all countries must stand united in the face of such brutal atrocities.”
