Last winter’s combat presented one of the biggest challenges for Ukraine, as Russia launched unprecedented attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. This winter promises to bring additional obstacles, as troops continue their counteroffensive with a damaged energy sector. The results of the winter will have ramifications for Ukraine’s political future and how it will handle short-term challenges. This panel considered the key challenges for Ukraine and its society according to surveys conducted by the Ukrainian Institute for the Future, how Ukraine is preparing for the winter, the potential for elections in Ukraine, and the general economic situation in the country.
