Central American Fiscal Policy in a Time of Crisis

The Central American Institute for Fiscal Studies (ICEFI), American University’s Center for Latin American and Latino Studies (CLALS), and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars’ Latin American Program hosted the presentation of ICEFI’s newly released Central American fiscal policy report:

“Central American Fiscal Policy in a Time of Crisis”

In ICEFI's just released report, Central American Fiscal Policy in a Time of Crisis, leading Central American economists analyze the principal components of fiscal policy in the region during the last decade and their impact on equality.  The report emphasizes the importance of social policy for reducing inequality.  ICEFI concludes that a sustainable fiscal policy directed at promoting economic growth and improved distribution amidst fluctuations of the international economy will require profound reforms in taxation, public expenditure and fiscal transparency.
