Overview

In August 2015, Miguel E. Basáñez was named Ambassador of Mexico to the United States of America. Prior to serving as Ambassador, he was an Adjunct Professor and Director of the Judicial Reform Program at The Fletcher School, Tufts University, where he wrote the recently published book, A World of Three Cultures: Honor, Achievement and Joy.

Please join us for a presentation and discussion of the book, which presents a provocative look at the impact of culture on global development. Drawing on extensive quantitative data, he identifies three "hyper clusters" of culture in the world—honor, achievement and joy—and argues that these cultures are directly related to the speed with which social, cultural and economic development occurs.
