Kennan Institute Ukrainian Alumni Grant Program

Application Procedures

Candidates submitting applications should designate whether they are seeking support for research, writing, or the organization of conferences.  Candidates should provide a 1,500 word description of their proposed activities, with an emphasis on the timeliness of the project and its broader impact on policy discourse and the value for policymakers. The grant is solely available to the Kennan Institute’s Ukrainian alumni.

Each proposal should include a budget that identifies how the funds will be expended. Candidates should submit budgets between $1,000 and $5,000.  Applications should be sent to: kennan@wilsoncenter.org

The goal is to make this grant program as widely available as possible.  Therefore, candidates should be prepared to receive less than the requested amount.  Moreover, while supplemental salary support is available, applicants should not anticipate that full salary support/benefits will be provided under this grant.  Grants will not be awarded to support merely attending or speaking at conferences.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.  A final written summary of the research or a conference report will be required under this grant.  All publications and conferences further must recognize the Kennan Institute Ukrainian Alumni Grant program in all outreach materials.
