Full Biography

Dr. Brian Glyn Williams is Full Professor of Islamic History at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth and author of The Crimean Tatars. From Soviet Genocide to Putin's Conquest (Oxford) and Inferno in Chechnya. The Russian-Chechen Wars, the Boston Marathon Bombing, and the Al Qaeda Myth (Dartmouth). His fieldwork in Eurasia includes four summers spent in Afghanistan living with anti-Taliban warlords, working for the US Army's Information Operations and tracking suicide bombers for the CIA's CTC. His work has appeared in Newsweek, LA Times, BBC, Time, CNN, Al Jazeera, Washington Post, and he regularly contributes to the Huffington Post.
