Full Biography

Enrique Cabrero Mendoza is the Director General of the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE), where he is also a research professor in the Division of Public Administration. He has been a visiting professor at the Ecole Normale Superieure in France, at the University of Birmingham in Britain and at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in Spain, among others. Professor Cabrero is also a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) level III and his research areas include: political decentralization and organizational analysis, public management, public finance and fiscal federalism, municipal management and public policy.

Professor Cabrero is founder of the magazine Management and Public Policy CIDE, founder of Local Management Award government and carried out by the CIDE annually, and author of several books and articles on issues of decentralization and local governments. His most recent publications are the books Acción Pública y desarrollo local (Public action and local development) published in 2005 by the Fondo de Cultura Economica, and el diseño institucional de la polí­tica de ciencia y tecnologí­a en México€ (The institutional design of the science and technology politics in Mexico) written in co-authority with Dr. Sergio Lopez and Dr. Diego Valadés published by the CIDE and Legal Research Institute of UNAM in June 2006. 

Professor Cabrero obtained his degree in Public Administration at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi in 1977. He received a Masters of Public Administration from CIDE in 1980; he participated in the Education Development Program by the Centre d'Enseignement Superieur des Affaires in France in 1982 and Doctoral Management Program, also in France, in 1983. He did his PhD in Management Science at the Ecole de Hatues Etudes Commerciales (HEC), in France in 2001.
