Full Biography

Farid Hannan serves as Director for Economic Affairs at the North American Desk in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE). Currently, he is coordinating several projects regarding the Mexican response to COVID-19, as well as the Mexico-US High-Level Economic Dialogue (HLED). He is also chairing the North American 4.0 Corridor for Development: a new mechanism to foster innovation in Mexico. Previously, he was Deputy Director for Statistics and Analysis and supported different bilateral negotiations with the United States about cooperation for development, immigration and the USMCA.

He graduated with special distinctions from the joint degree program in Economics and International Relations of ITAM, where he has also taught seminars at the International Studies Department. Farid Hannan was recognized with the XXV ITAM Research Award for his work on economic growth and has published several texts, including a peer-reviewed article about Diplomatic History.

He fights for LGBT+ rights and is a Young Associate of the think tank COMEXI.
