Full Biography

Germán Garavano is currently the Minister of Justice and Human Rights of Argentina, a post he has held since 2015. Minister Garavano studied law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina Santa María de los Buenos Aires and received his post-graduate degree from the Instituto de Derecho y Economía de la Universidad Carlos III. He served as the Attorney General of the City of Buenos Aires from 2007-2014. From 2005-2007, he was the Deputy Vice President of the Council of Attorney Generals, Attorneys, Public Defenders and General Advisors of the Argentine Republic. In 2005 Mr. Garavano was elected Vice President of the Justice Studies Center of the Americas by the Organization of American States. He was also elected Judge for the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires from 2003-2007. Mr. Garavano has done extensive academic work across Latin America in the field of judicial reform and is the author, co-author, and editor of various books and articles on different aspects of the judicial system.
