Full Biography
Counselor Heli Hyypiä works in the Section for Sustainable Growth and Commerce of the Embassy of Finland in Washington DC since August 2018. Her portfolio includes climate policy, green economy and the arctic. She also coordinates Finland’s partnerships with U.S. States.
Heli previously served in the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU in Brussels from 2013 to 2017 where she represented Finland in the EU Council’s General Affairs working group. She joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland in 2009. She has worked in the Department for Development Policy working on development finance institutions and Political Department focusing on security policy and the United Nations.
Heli graduated from the University of Birmingham (UK) in 2009 with a Masters degree in International Relations. She is married and has two children.
