Full Biography

Ambassador Ernest Ndabashinze was appointed as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Burundi in Washington D.C. on October 11th 2013. Before joining his current position, he was the Director of Asia and Oceanic Department in the Ministry of External Affairs and International Cooperation.

H.E Ndabashinze has held other various positions within the Ministry of External Affairs and International Cooperation such as Permanent Secretary (2010-2011) and Director of the Africa Department (2007-2010). Between 2001 and 2007, Ambassador Ndabashinze served respectively as Second Counselor at the Burundian Mission to the United Nations in New York (2001-2004) and Second Counselor at the Embassy of Burundi in Italy (2004-2007).

From 2007 to 2013, Ambassador Ndabashinze was a member of the National Commission on Border and from 2011 to 2013, member of the Regional Committee for Prevention and Punishment of Crimes of Genocide, War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity and all Forms of Discrimination.

H.E. Ernest Ndabashinze holds a Master’s Degree in Sociology, from the University Paul Valery, Montpellier, France. He is fluent in French, Kirundi and knowledgeable in English.
