Jaime El Koury is a partner of Clearly Gottlieb Steen and Hamilton, a leading international law firm, with 12 offices located in major financial centers around the world. Mr. El Koury's practice focuses on international corporate and financial matters, with particular emphasis on projects involving the firm's Latin American clients.  Mr. El Koury has participated in a number of groundbreaking transactions, such as the first NYSE-listed ADR offering by a Latin American company and some of the major privatization and joint venture transactions in Mexico.

Mr. El Koury also has extensive experience in the project and structured finance areas. He is internationally distinguished by Chambers Global Guide to the World's Leading Lawyers for Latin American corporate and finance and by Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business for Latin American investment. After joining the firm in 1980, he became a partner in 1986.  He received a J.D. degree from Yale Law School in 1978 and an undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Yale University in 1975.  He also served as law clerk to Chief Justice José Trías Monge of the Supreme Court of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

Mr. El Koury is a member of the Bars in New York and Puerto Rico and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and the Southern District of New York.  He is a member of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the International Bar Association, Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Puerto Rico, the Inter-American Bar Association and the American Foreign Law Association.  Mr. El Koury served as Class Delegate to the Association of Yale Alumni from 1998 to 2002, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Yale Law School Fund and of the Executive Committee of the Yale Law School Association.  Mr. El Koury is fluent in Spanish, his native language.
