José Ramírez-Rivera joins the Wilson Center’s Canada Institute as an intern for the fall 2013 semester. He is a 2013 Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellow (FAF 20) and a senior at American University, studying International Studies with a focus in International Politics and the Latin American region. He attended the Junior Summer Institute at Carnegie Mellon University as a Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Fellow during the summer of 2013. Originally from Puerto Rico, José interned with the State Department's Office of Caribbean Affairs and intends to become a Foreign Service Officer. His interest in Canada stems from his semester abroad in Canada as a Killam Fellow, where he studied at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick for the winter term of 2013.
