Project Summary

Reviews Soviet military finance, concentrating on the ’great’ period when input/output tables were published (1959-1972): using both the national income accountancy definitions and the actual amounts. Analyzes the meaning of the overt budgetary defense allocation since 1971, the military accountancies of the non-Soviet Warsaw pact countries, determining whether they can possibly be the free riders they seem to be.
