Expert Bio

Tongxin Zhu (朱彤昕) is a research assistant at the China Environment Forum. Her current focus is ocean plastic waste in China with an emphasis on consumer-facing industries. Her upcoming publication centers around plastic waste and sustainable packaging in grocery stores in China and the U.S. She is also researching China’s seafood demand with a focus on sustainable seafood consumption.

Tongxin’s past research included sustainable development and civic engagement from a tourism angle in Yangshuo, China where she interviewed local people and explored challenges for sustainable development. She recently graduated from Georgetown University, McCourt School of Public Policy with an MPP degree. Her policy interests include environment and resource, community development, and civic engagement.
