America Hernandez is an energy policy reporter for Politico Europe covering hydrogen, natural gas, nuclear power and the clean energy transition, notably through the European Union’s flagship Green Deal package. She previously covered civil litigation at the state and federal level for the Daily Journal chain of legal newspapers in California. She got her start covering local news for the Orange County and Los Angeles Registers, and helped produce a cold-case crime series on cross-border murders between the U.S. and Mexico for NBC Telemundo’s Persiguiendo Injusticias. She speaks English, Spanish, French and Italian and holds a political science degree from the University of Southern California.
