Full Biography

Lorenzo H. Zambrano joined CEMEX in 1968 and was named chief executive officer in 1985. He has served as chairman of the board since 1995. Mr. Zambrano is a member of the IBM Board of Directors, the Citigroup International Advisory Board, and the boards of several leading Mexican companies, including Alfa, Grupo Financiero Banamex, Femsa, Televisa and Vitro. He is also chairman of the board of the Tecnologico de Monterrey, the leading private university in Mexico and Latin America, and serves on the board of the Monterrey Contemporary Art Museum. 

Mr. Zambrano has earned a number of prestigious honors such as the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship, the Americas Society's Gold Medal for Distinguished Service and the Ernest C. Arbuckle Award for Managerial Excellence from the Stanford Graduate Business School's Alumni Association. He is the North American deputy chairman of the Trilateral Commission and chairman of its Mexican Group. He earned a BS degree in mechanical engineering from the Tecnologico de Monterrey (ITESM) and an MBA from Stanford University.
