Latin American Program Staff Intern 

Sara Torres is from Bogotá, Colombia and grew up in the Dominican Republic. She recently graduated from Tufts University, where she double-majored in International Relations with a concentration in Globalization, and Latin American Studies—she wrote her Senior Honors Thesis on Venezuela’s transition to and consolidation of partyarchy following the Pact of Punto Fijo through the lens of the parties’ instrumentalization of clientelism. She is mainly interested in Latin American political economy, particularly in rentier economies. She previously worked as a foreign policy intern in the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA) and research assistant in the Council on Foreign Relations’ (CFR) Latin American Program, and currently heads the team for monetary donations of Col5vid (Colombia Sin Covid)—an initiative she co-founded to serve Colombia’s vulnerable communities during the crisis derived from COVID-19.
