Sheila Miyoshi Jager is a professor of East Asian studies at Oberlin College, Ohio. She is the author and editor of three books on Korea and East Asia. She is currently working on a new book about the great power struggles over the Korean Peninsula at the end of the 19th and early 20th century entitled The Other Great Game: The 'Opening' of Korea and the Birth of Modern East Asia which will be published by Harvard University Press. The book will provide a deep historical context for understanding Northeast Asia’s present and future situation. She also is working on a co-authored book with Jiyul Kim entitled The Korean War: A New History which will be published by Cambridge University Press.
