Overview

Agenda

On March 20th, The Wilson Center held a public forum marking the launch of its new Indo-Pacific Program. The event addressed the way forward for the United States to secure its strategic interests and mitigate risks in the Indo-Pacific, as well as prospects for US partnering with like-minded partners in the region. The discussions featured voices from Capitol Hill, the Biden administration, and the diplomatic and analytical communities.

Originally established in 1977 as the Asia Program, the Indo-Pacific Program will reinforce the Wilson Center’s longstanding efforts to promote sustained US military, diplomatic, and economic engagement in the world’s most dynamic region, and to amplify the importance of US allies and partners in a region rife with opportunities and obstacles alike.

The Program will focus on four core themes: economic interests and partnerships for sustained growth, governance and the advancement of a rules-based order, security and networks for regional stability, and the rise of middle powers in shaping the global order.
