Full Biography

Josh Kaplan is a sophomore Robert W. Woodruff Scholar at Emory University, pursuing a major in Economics and Global Development Studies and a minor in Portuguese. After studying Brazilian literature at the University of Sao Paulo, his academic interest has centered on leveraging policy to improve economic opportunity across Brazil.

At Emory, Josh leads Consult Your Community, a student-led organization that provides free consulting services to minority-owned businesses. He also serves on the Global Youth Advisory Panel for Plan International, a humanitarian and development organization. He has been recognized as a Gloria Barron Prize Awardee and an Ashoka Youth Fellow, and recently spoke at the United Nations.

Josh interned at the Brazil Institute from June-August 2019.
