Smart Take | BRICS Summit 2023 Begins in South Africa
Over twenty countries have applied to join the BRICS group, which currently includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Oge Onubogu, Director of the Wilson Center’s Africa Program, discusses the significance of this possible increase in membership, why emerging economies are looking for a new platform, and what the BRICS 2023 agenda looks like. The Summit is taking place August 22-24 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
