The Center for Cold War International History Studies and Research Institute on the Asian Neighborhood, East China Normal University (ECNU), and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars’ History and Public Policy Program will organize an international conference at East China Normal University in Shanghai on March 11-13, 2017. The theme of the conference is “Relations between China and its Neighbors during the Cold War: New Sources and New Perspectives.”
The conference will examine the following topics:

Historical materials and studies of relations between China and neighboring countries (including maritime neighbors) during Cold War;

Historical materials and studies of histories of China’s neighbors during Cold War;

Historical materials and studies on the handling of frontier and borderlands issues between China and its neighbors during Cold War;
-
Historical materials and studies of overseas Chinese living in China’s neighboring countries.
The conference organizers anticipate having a diverse group of presenters from across Asia as well as from the United States and Europe. The conference’s working language is Chinese, but English interpretation will be provided. Papers can be delivered in either English or Chinese with interpretation provided.

The conference organizers will provide board and lodging for participants during the meeting. Special needs may be accommodated on a case –by-case base.
