The Woodrow Wilson Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Louis Susman to its Board of Trustees.

WASHINGTON – The Woodrow Wilson Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Louis Susman to its Board of Trustees.

“Lou Susman was a distinguished Ambassador to the United Kingdom and a colleague of mine on the State Department Foreign Policy Board. He brings a great deal of international experience to our board and we are thrilled to have him here,” said Jane Harman, Director, President and CEO of the Wilson Center.

Ambassador Susman is Chairman of CBI Holdings, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BDT Capital Partners, and Special Advisor to Henry Crown & Co. He was previously a member of the Board of Directors and Management Committee of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Citigroup International Advisory Board, and a Senior Partner at the law firm Thompson & Mitchell. He was Ambassador to the UK from 2009 – 2013. Mr. Susman received an A.B. from the University of Michigan and an LL.B. from Washington University in St. Louis.

In the January 6th White House announcement of several key appointments, President Obama said, “I am pleased to announce that these experienced and committed individuals have decided to serve our country. I know they will serve the American people well.”

Mr. Susman replaces retired Air Force Lt. General Susan Helms. “General Helms’ service to the country and to the board set a high bar,” said Harman. “The Center thanks her for her talent, dedication, and friendship.”

The Wilson Center provides a strictly nonpartisan space for the worlds of policymaking and scholarship to interact. By conducting relevant and timely research and promoting dialogue from all perspectives, it works to address the critical current and emerging challenges confronting the United States and the world.
