Peter Reid to Head Communications for Wilson Center

Former spokesman for the British Foreign Office Peter Reid is appointed the new vice president of communications and media relations at the Woodrow Wilson Center.

WASHINGTON, August 9—The Wilson Center has appointed Peter Reid as vice president for strategic communications and media relations.

A former vice president of strategy and external affairs with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and former spokesman for the British Foreign Office in London, New York and Washington D.C., Reid brings to the position 22 years of experience in public policy, international strategic communications and media relations.

Jane Harman, president, CEO and director of the Wilson Center, announced:

“As Woodrow Wilson said, ‘We live in an age disturbed, confused, bewildered, afraid of its own forces, in search not merely of its road but even of its direction.’ This is so relevant to today – at a time of toxic partisanship. The Wilson Center is a convener for discussing the hard issues central to the problems we face, and we are thrilled that Peter will lead our communications team. He brings enormous experience as a top strategist and media relations expert, ensuring that the Center’s important work is even more accessible across the country and the world.”

Reid said:

“I am delighted to be joining the Wilson Center. The critical space it occupies between policymakers and the world of ideas and nonpartisan discussion is all the more vital at this time of multiple, current and emerging challenges to national security. The rapidly changing communications landscape offers many more opportunities for the Wilson Center to originate and share fresh ideas and perspectives to address those issues.”
