The Wilson Center’s Mexico Institute, Brazil Institute and Canada Institute are saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend, Dr. Robert Pastor. For more than 20 years Bob was the leading proponent and highly vocal advocate of the idea of an integrated North America, and never hesitated to engage with audiences at all levels on the issue. He was well-known for his willingness to call policymakers and politicians to account for their failure to bring about more integration in the North American region. He became a good friend of Mexico, Brazil, and Canada, and recognized the enormous potential for closer cooperation among the three North American states and their people.
We remember Bob as a great intellectual, a tireless campaigner, and a wonderful colleague, and send our deepest sympathies to his family.
Buen viaje, bon voyage Bob—you will be greatly missed.
