Wilson Center Pays Tribute to Late Former Board Member Robert Goldwin

WASHINGTON—The Board of Trustees of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars mourns the loss of Robert Goldwin, a distinguished political scientist and former Wilson Center board member. Goldwin passed away on January 12.

Renowned for his intelligence and influence on conservative American policymakers, Goldwin began his career as the dean of St. John's College in Annapolis. He also served as a political adviser to then-U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Donald Rumsfeld, and later President Gerald Ford. He was known throughout the White House for his scholarship and became an intellectual base for conservatives in Congress.

Goldwin served on the Woodrow Wilson Center's Board of Trustees from 1975 to 1977. His commitment to scholarship helped to spread the values of Woodrow Wilson and the Wilson Center.

"Robert Goldwin made highly significant contributions to the Wilson Center over a number of years that were greatly appreciated then and continue to be appreciated now," said Wilson Center President and Director Lee Hamilton. "I am grateful for all that he did to advance the Center's mission. I offer my deepest sympathies to his family."
